In 2010, when I was undergoing a blog re-brand, I spent a lot of time thinking about what I wanted to focus on in my life. I truly wanted my blog to be a reflection of my world view and I wanted it to enrich my life and grow with me. And so…Life IS the Party was born.
I chose the name because, obviously, I love to entertain and plan and host parties, but – more than that – I wanted to communicate my belief that it’s the small things that make for an enjoyable and fulfilling life. The saying Carpe Diem was coined for me! I love that I am able to pay attention to how everyday acts like a great meal or a fly pair of shoes or a joke told by my kids or a small victory in my business really contribute to the overall brightness of my life. For me, life really is one big party and and I realized that I wanted to help others to enjoy theirs through blogging, inspiration, events, and lifestyle coaching.
When my path crossed with that of Mighty Girl, Maggie Mason, and her partner, Laura Mayes and I was invited to Mighty Summit in 2011, not only was I over the moon at the opportunity, but once I went and experienced the raw awesomeness of the weekend, I knew in my gut that they were onto something. Helping others achieve life goals in a supportive and tangible way = brilliant.
That weekend, I pledged to work on 5 goals from my Life List over the next year:
- lose 30 lbs (and learn to love to exercise)
- learn ASL for my Sis
- quit my day job and work for myself
- makeover my closet
- start a Sunday Dinner tradition
I am pleased to say that I’ve since accomplished 3 out of those 5 goals. But there’s still much work to be done! That’s why I’m so honored and thrilled to be an inaugural Cast Member of the Go Mighty online community. It’s going to be one heck of a party.
Congratulations on being an inaugural Cast Member and continuing to work on personal goals in addition to the many fabulous things you’ve accomplished professionally! I look forward to reading about your progress and think the Go Mighty online community is awesome!
I’m inspired!
Wow. that is so cool. I really love your “having a standing nail appointment.” I’ve never had a manicure. Can you believe that? And as far as the classic movie marathons… have you ever seen “His Girl Friday” or ” A Philadelphia Story” ? I absolutely LOVE Carey Grant. He was my boyfriend before Denzel. If you haven’t seen those stories, you must watch them. Katherine Hepburn is phenomenal.
Congrats Stacey on your Mighty GOALS. Keep shining. You INSPIRE me. Hugs, Ananda
PS: Your blog is my digital therapy.
So excited for you and love this idea!

Krystal! I haven’t heard of either of those movies! See how badly I need the marathon? I might be coming to you for a list of recommendations. Also? The next time I see you, I am taking you for a manicure. #stopthemadness
