To kickoff my busy spring conference-going season, I headed South to Boca Raton, Florida at the end of February for the Black Enterprise Women of Power Summit. I had heard of the event before, but swinging that ticket registration price without the backing of a corporate employer just wasn’t happening! But as luck would have it, the universe showed me love (in the form of me developing a relationship with Sonia Alleyne during a press junket to Walt Disney World), and Ta Da! I was invited to present a session on “Understanding Your Digital Footprint” to a room full of women who are about.their business.
The event was everything I expected and more. What struck me the most was that each of the women in attendance were at the top of their game and leaders in their industry and yet, every single one was approachable and warm, so refreshing (and really, the way it should be). I met so many amazing women and heard so many amazing speakers. Here are some of the highlights:

As you can imagine, each woman was captivating and inspirational and the stuff of legends. It was so humbling to be in that room! There’s a recap of the dinner up on the Black Enterprise site.
Valerie Daniels-Carter (who is the real deal!!) talked a lot about ‘greatness’, which I thought was perfect given that our theme for Blogalicious Weekend this year is #BeGreat. I took it as a clue that I was on the right track! What really stayed with me was her directive to us to “challenge ourselves to step outside of average and inside of purpose.” A tall order, but one that I am committing to following.
