The Griddle Cafe Red Velvet Pancake Mix

This past summer Hubby and I went to Los Angeles for a friend’s wedding. Of course, before we even touched down on the West Coast, I had already mapped out our culinary itinerary being the foodie that I am.  Hubby is a breakfast fanatic, so I knew that our morning spots had to be on point. I scoured online reviews for breakfast spots and The Griddle Cafe was consistently rated as a “must-visit” place.  It did not disappoint! The food was SO good that we went back a second day.

My “Addicted to Noisella” Stuffed French Toast

Thank goodness The Griddle Cafe is a 5-hour plane ride away, otherwise we would have certainly OD’d on it by now. But! If we’re ever desperately craving Red Velvet Pancakes with Cream Cheese Frosting (YES y’all) we’re totally in luck! The Griddle Cafe now offers Red Velvet Pancake Mix for purchase and now, you can have this in your very own home:

Christmas Eve Tradition: Chinese Takeout

Sounds random, doesn’t it? It all began years ago when my sister and I were home at my mom’s house for Christmas.  For whatever reason, we found ourselves starving and exhausted late on Christmas Eve.  Because absolutely nothing else was open, my mom suggested that we order Chinese food from her usual spot up the street and at that moment, nothing sounded better to us than their signature Honey Chicken.  A tradition was born!

I completely embrace it because, really, who wants to be cooking up a storm on Christmas Eve? There are presents to wrap, candlelight services to attend, guests to welcome and eggnog to drink.  Ordering dinner means one less item on your already unwieldy To-Do List.  And because it’s become a tradition, it’s fun for everyone and just feels good.

Here’s to noshing on Shrimp Fried Rice, Lobster with Ginger, and Stir-Fried Chicken with Basil and General Tso’s Chicken while we bake cookies for Santa.

OnStar Gears Up to Help Children Find Santa Claus

OnStar Partners with NORAD to Advise on Santa’s Christmas Eve Route

DETROIT – On Christmas Eve, OnStar advisors will be prepared to give subscribers specific location-based updates on Santa Claus’ journey around the world based on data received in partnership with the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD).

Beginning at 6 a.m. EST on Christmas Eve, OnStar subscribers can press the blue OnStar button in their vehicles to request a “Santa Update.” OnStar advisors will share Santa’s whereabouts through 5 a.m. EST Christmas morning.

“It’s great to provide our customers with a fun, highly informative benefit during the holidays,” said Scott Kubicki, executive director, OnStar Sales, Services and Marketing. “Our advisors also enjoy hearing children’s surprise and joy when they learn that St. Nick is only hours away from their home.”

For more than 54 years NORAD has used its North Warning Radar System, geo-synchronous satellites with infrared sensors and other technologies to monitor Santa’s Christmas Eve travels and share the information with children and families around the world.

“We are excited that OnStar is a NORAD Tracks Santa program sponsor once again this year,” said James Graybeal, deputy chief of staff for communication, Headquarters NORAD and USNORTHCOM.  “OnStar adds another layer to the program.  In addition to tracking Santa on the web or by calling in to the operations center, it’s neat that you can locate Santa by pushing a button in your car, wherever you are.”

Individuals without an OnStar subscription can visit www.noradsanta.org or dial 877 HI-NORAD (877-446-6723) for Santa’s location.

Resources Wednesday: Sites for Working Moms

I thought I’d start a weekly post where I share with you some of my go-to resources related to working motherhood.  This week I’m sharing a few of my favorite sites:

The Juggle on Wall Street Journal

The Juggle examines the choices and tradeoffs people make as they juggle work and family. The site provides readers with news, insight and tips on parenting, workplace issues, commuting, caregiving and other issues busy readers with families face. It is also a place for readers to share and compare their own work-and-family experiences and to seek advice and recommendations.

Mommy Tracked

Called “popular and edgy” by the Wall Street Journal,Mommy Tracked is a multi-tasking website for modern moms that stands out from the crowd of parenting sites. Always fresh, funny, informative and entertaining, but never judgmental, Mommy Tracked strives to provide time-crunched, over-extended and multitasked-out moms a much needed and well deserved escape from the chaos of modern motherhood.

It’s not easy to juggle family and career while maintaining your own sanity. We created Work It, Mom! because we believe that having a community where working moms can share their experiences, advice, and support can make that daily juggle a bit more manageable.

Working Moms Against Guilt

We’re moms. We work all day, bring home the bacon, and fry it up in a pan. Oh, and while we’re at it, we’re raising young children, along with our spouses/partners. As any working mom knows, we often battle the big “G.” Guilt creeps up on us when we least expect it. Join us in our ongoing struggle to resist the guilt and embrace the journey.

What are some of your favorite working mom sites?
