- In 2010 I decided to host a Summer Ladies’ Luncheon to drag my girlfriends out of their respective holes and have everyone take a moment to catch up and be treated to an afternoon of delightful bites, drinks and conversation. It was a hit! My, ahem, fabulous menu aside (think: paella, paninis and s’mores brownies) – the number one compliment I received was a thank you for ‘forcing’ them to take a time out to enjoy an afternoon that was all about them as women. It’s so easy to become consumed by the role of Mom or Wife or Whatever and forget how much fun it is to be yourself again.
I hosted my 2nd Annual Ladies Luncheon last summer and enticed my lady friends to indulge in another afternoon out to unwind and exhale. One of my BFFs even brought her newborn daughter and my cousin-in-law brought her niece, Tiarra. This past weekend my family traveled up to Rhode Island for Tiarra’s Sweet 16 celebration – before we hit the road to come home yesterday, we stopped by her house to say goodbye; her mom mentioned how much Tiarra enjoyed the Ladies’ Luncheon last summer – she said that she had called home and said: “Mom! It was so nice! I felt like I was on an episode of Basketball Wives” (minus the cat fighting, naturally). I chalked it up to it being another instance of the women attending my Luncheon feeling pampered and catered to – which was my goal. Another success!
So, it looks like this summer will mark the 3rd Annual Ladies’ Luncheon. I was on the fence about doing it again, but I think I’ll go ahead with another one. The geek in me is most excited to hit up Pinterest for menu and decor inspiration – I’ve been collecting ideas on my Gourmadine and Fete boards and I can’t wait to curl up with a cup of hot tea and fresh notepad to get to work on the blueprint for this summer’s get-together.
Basketball Wives not invited.

When is the luncheon? I’d like a strawberry mimosa please. Thanks.
Those mimosas look wonderful!!! I’ll pulling my seat up to the table right now. LOL
*I’m* pulling my seat up. I got so sidetracked thinking about mimosas that I forgot how to formulate a sentence:)
You always have fun ideas! I’ve always wanted to do a backyard/patio luncheon or soire. First I have to finish sprucing up the yard, and buy furniture, which is a huge project.
