The Light at the End of the Tunnel

{I’m not dramatic at all.}

For these past several months, my life has been on hold as I coordinate, plan and prep for this year’s Blogalicious conference, which is all-consuming.  My days (and most nights) are spent working – to the exclusion of pretty much everything else, except for my family.  If I’m not emailing or conference calling or doing some event production-related task, I’m volunteering at school, shuttling to and from cheerleading practice or Tae Kwon Do class or cooking (ALWAYS.COOKING. These people don’t stop eating.).  This means that life items, that ideally would get done, simply don’t.  Now that the conference is basically here, my mind has shifted into Life After Blogalicious 2012 mode, which is comforting in a big way because there are so many things that need my attention:

  1. My fitness routine. As much as I’ve tried to keep it going thinking that it would be a great source of stress relief and a welcome distraction, it got tossed by the wayside weeks ago.  I’m looking forward to resuming Zumba class and taking advantage of this gorgeous running weather we’ve been having before it freezes over.
  2. Church. {cue Meek Mill} I miss going to church. I need to go. My whole family needs to go. It’s grounding and rejuvenating. Consider us in the House next Sunday.
  3. A Sane Household Routine.  No more rushing. No more forgetting. No more mess (ok, maybe a little).  We’re reclaiming sanity.
  4. Organization! This is huge.  Everyone in the house needs to transfer their Summer wardrobes downstairs and their Fall/Winter one back up.  The kids need their clothes sorted in a bad way – too small items need to be weeded out and donated. Then, the entire house needs a good de-cluttering.
  5. Friends.  As amazing as it sounds, I do have friends who aren’t bloggers and who I don’t get to see multiple times a year at social media conferences around the country or talk to often on Twitter.  I’m looking forward to calling those friends on the ~ gasp! ~ phone and even spending time with them in person.

So as you can see, I am excited for next week.  But my plans will have to wait for now.  Today, name badges, the special event insurance policy and project partnerships need my attention.

Still, I can see the light.

  1. I’m excited that you will finally get back into your regular routine. I can only imagine how much work it takes to plan a conference. Enjoy your “life after”.

    thanks! it’s always bittersweet – like a wedding…you spend months planning it and then it’s over! but it’s nice to finally think about something else.
