What is Blogalicious? Blogalicious was a little idea that blossomed into a movement…
The Blogalicious Weekend conferences, are aimed at celebrating the diversity of women of all ethnicities in social media. Back in 2009, my Mamalaw co-bloggers and I saw a void in the social media space of brands connecting with multicultural markets, and we also saw the desire for bloggers of diverse backgrounds to connect IRL. So we decided to fill the void and make the connections happen. Yup, just like that. {Ok, so maybe there was tons of hard work, marathon conference calls, a smidge of panic, and a tragically deep understanding of hotel banquet event orders involved. But it was all totally worth it.}
Since then the Blogalicious conference has exploded; in addition to the conference growing in size and content every year, we now also have My Blogalicious, a virtual community of contributing editors serving as a destination for news, entertainment resources and op-ed content for women of color online, a Blogalicious movie, Blogalicious e-books, a #BeUplifted Twitter chat series, and forthcoming study results of the online habits of women of color in social media. Most importantly, we have an amazing community and are proud to have inspired so many to dream big and do the damn thang.
The mission of Blogalicious is to celebrate diversity in social media. Blogalicious achieves its mission through community building, on and offline; providing tools and training to facilitate entrepreneurial and technical skills growth within the social media space; raising awareness within the marketing space of the powerful “multi-influential” demographic; and serving as the face of multicultural women online.
